<p>The president of the World Zionist Organization, Rabbi Doron Perez, responded to the murderous attack at a Hanukkah candle-lighting event in Bondi Beach, Sydney, where ten Jews were killed and many injured.</p><p>“Our hearts go out to all the families of the murdered and injured in this heinous attack, whose only crime was attending a Hanukkah candle-lighting event,” he said.</p><p>In his remarks, Rabbi Perez called on the Australian government and governments around the free world to act decisively against antisemitism: “How much innocent blood must be shed before the danger of antisemitism is taken seriously?”</p><p>He added: “We call on the authorities in Australia not only to bring the murderers and their sponsors to justice, but also to ensure that all Jewish communities across the country can feel safe.”</p>

The Australian government must act decisively to ensure the safety of Australian Jews and to combat the scourge of antisemitism.</p><p>I wish to send my prayers for a speedy recovery to those injured. It is the duty of the State of Israel to assist in the fight against antisemitism wherever it rears its ugly head.</p><p>The Committee on Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs will discuss this matter next Tuesday together with the Minister for Diaspora Affairs.”</p>
