The coalition will place two laws aimed at making changes to the judicial system up for a preliminary vote today (Wednesday).The bill according to which it will be possible to override Supreme Court decisions with a majority of 61 MKs as well as the "2nd Deri Law", not allowing the Court to interfere in ministerial appointments will be put to a vote. The purpose of the Deri Law is to circumvent Deri's disqualification from serving as a minister.

MK Moshe Saada's (Likud) amendment to the law governing the Department of Police Investigations was passed in a preliminary reading in the Knesset plenum.Saada proposed to separate the Department from the prosecutor's office and make it an independent investigative body under the Ministry of Justice. This is in order to prevent difficulties encountered when the prosecution has to investigate police officers given the close teamwork in which they are engaged when the suspect is not a member of the police force.
