US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the government would reach its statutory borrowing limit on Tuesday and would begin employing "extraordinary measures" to keep from breaching the cap and triggering a potentially catastrophic default.Yellen, in a letter on Friday to congressional leaders just three days before the Biden administration turns over US government control to President-elect Donald Trump and his team, said the Treasury would begin using extraordinary measures on Jan. 21."The period of time that extraordinary measures may last is subject to considerable uncertainty, including the challenges of forecasting the payments and receipts of the US Government months into the future," Yellen said in the letter.

President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration has been moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda, he announced in a Truth Social post on Thursday.Trump said he decided to move the event indoors because an arctic blast is supposed to occur on January 20. "I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way," the President-elect wrote. "It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th."

A two-year-old toddler and her father were pronounced dead after firefighters and Magen David Adom first responders recovered them from a blaze at a building in Beit She'an, Israeli media reported on Saturday.The two reportedly succumbed to injuries from smoke inhalation.Five other injured people were successfully evacuated.

Three people were killed early on Saturday in the center of Kyiv in a night-time Russian attack, said Timur Tkachenko, head of the Ukrainian capital's military administration.Tkachenko posted on the Telegram messaging app that the deaths had occurred in the city's Shevchenkivskyi district. He said falling debris had also hit the Desnyanskyi district on the other side of the Dnipro River that runs through the capital.Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air defenses were in operation around the city.He said windows had been shattered in Shevchenkivskyi district, including at a metro station, and smoke was coming out of an apartment building.
